Rare Commodity

There’s a saying in property, ‘Land: they aren’t making any more of it,’ inferring that neither Darwin nor the Lord, depending on your beliefs, are building any new Earths (well, at least none that we are aware of – residents of expanding Volcanic Islands may beg to differ). In any case, clichés stick for a reason, and if you look beachside in highly populated areas you will know what they mean. As such, when a limited release of beachfront land was mooted, I hunted the developer and agent like it was my last meal. I secured one block, even though I tried for more – capital and a limited release of 8 stopped that. Even as I told my closet clients and friends about the opportunity, only one acted. Like me, they paid around $300k for their site in the early 00's and we both ended up selling our sites for around $700,000 just a few years later. I have to say though, I do wish I’d kept it and lived there now.
