School's Over
Conversion/Renovation from School Classrooms to a Home
Buying old churches is a popular thing to do, but really, any older character buildings are fun because they are different/interesting and evoke feelings of nostalgia. Here, picture three classrooms with a common verandah – Queenslander style, so the full VJ paneling and even hat racks. There were also the full boys and girls’ amenities block, perfect for parties (which we definitely had) before selling this property. We converted the larger classroom into a kitchen and living room, while classroom two became the kids’ bunk room, as Somerset’s main attraction is now the dam, so prefect for weekends of family water fun and activities. Classroom three became the new master bedroom. This new character home sold reasonably quickly given its remote and therefore specific market, leaving us with the balance land, and the old playground to subdivide into eight more lots (See Somerset) with next to base cost.
